Roadie is seeking a Data Engineer who’s passionate about data and making data-driven decisions to join our growing Product Team. You should have expertise in SQL, ETL, and programming experience ideally in Python. You’ll work across our Decision Science and Marketing teams to develop datasets to help us understand how users are engaging with our web properties and products, and develop powerful algorithms for our data science initiatives. Our data is dynamic across many teams, so a collaborative and communicative spirit is essential to ensuring you’re successful in this role.

The Day-to-Day

  • Design and build endpoints for data consumption by internal tools
  • Scale data processing flow to meet data growth
  • Research and recommend new processes and tools to make the models developed by Data Scientists even more effective and scalable
  • Maintain and extend our ETL process and internal data warehouse
  • Deliver a regular cadence of analytics-based insights and recommendations that drive better product and marketing decisions, including:
  • Track User behavior across devices, from marketing into the product
  • Build analytics cohorts based on data
  • Understand how app and web properties/products are performing across various marketing acquisition channels and campaigns
  • Make analytics-based recommendations to improve Roadie’s digital products and properties to improve performance relative to business KPIs
  • Make analytics tooling recommendations and oversee implementation, maintenance and QA of analytics architecture, including tooling for Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Firebase, and Lookr; as well as future tools such as Segment, mparticle, Lytics, etc.
  • Serve as Roadie’s Analytics technical SME across marketing and product

Experience and Skills

  • Expertise in SQL
  • At least 1 year of experience in Python
  • 2 to 3 years experience with scaling production systems
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL as well as MPP databases such as Redshift
  • Familiarity with Django
  • Fundamental understanding of algorithmic complexity and optimization
  • Experience using basic statistical analysis techniques
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Bonus

  • Knowledge or experience with basic machine learning technologies
  • Experience with NoSQL technologies and distributed systems
  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Spark
