Walmart Gigs questions & answers
Everything you need to know!
General Questions
- How are Walmart Gigs different from other Gigs?
- Time limit: When you’re accepted for a Walmart Gig, you’ll need to head out ASAP, as is the case with all other Gigs. But with Walmart Gigs, please note you will have 1 hour to complete the delivery after you pick up the groceries from Walmart.
- Clean car requirement: Because you’re handling food, you’ll need to make sure your car is relatively clean — meaning, free of smoke, pet hair and dander, etc.
- Stay in your car at Pickup: A Walmart associate will come out to your car and they will load the groceries into your trunk or backseat, after they confirm the order number and customer name with you.
- Signature required: Once you hand over the groceries, as well as a Thank You card from Walmart, please get the Customer’s signature in the Roadie App before completing your Gig.
But when it comes to using your Roadie app, this should be like any other Gig. You’ll follow the instructions in the app as usual, tapping when you start, arrive at pickup, heading to the delivery location, collect the signature, and when you’re finished with the Gig.
- What do I need to know before I drive a Walmart Gig?
- Make sure the car you’re driving is the one that’s listed on your profile.
- When you’re accepted for a Walmart Gig, you’ll need to head out ASAP. Then, you’ll have 1 hour to complete the delivery after you pick up the groceries from Walmart.
- When you arrive, there will be a designated parking area for grocery pickup. Follow the “Grocery Order Pickup” signs and park in a “Reserved Grocery Pickup Parking” spot. These should be marked with the color orange.
- For this pickup, you’ll actually be staying in your car. Once you tap “Arrived at Pickup Location,” a Walmart associate will get a notification. The associate will come out to you, confirm the order number and customer name, and then load the groceries into your trunk or backseat.
- You may be handling fragile and frozen items. They will be labeled.
- The Walmart associate will also hand you a Thank You card to give to the customer. You’ll need to hand that to the customer separately from the groceries.
- When you deliver the groceries, take them to the customer’s door, but don’t go inside.
- If the customer isn’t home, call them using your Roadie App. If you still can’t get in touch, wait 5 minutes, then call Roadie Support to start the Return Gig. When you get back to the Walmart store, call the number on the “Pickup” parking signs to let a store associate know you have arrived.
- If the customer wants to send an individual item back to the store, put them in touch with Walmart Customer Care at (800) 924-9206. Roadie Drivers do not need to return individual items.
- I have arrived at Walmart. Where should I go?
When you arrive, there will be a designated parking area for grocery pickup. Follow the “Grocery Order Pickup” signs and park in a “Reserved Grocery Pickup Parking” spot. These should be marked with the color orange.
Remember to stay in your car once you’ve parked. When you tap “Arrived at Pickup Location” in your Roadie App, the Walmart associate will be notified, and they’ll come out to you.
- No one has come out to my car yet. What do I do?
Do you have the correct car listed on your profile? Walmart associates will be looking for the type of car you have listed, so make sure that’s up-to-date.
Call the number on the “Reserved Grocery Pickup Parking” sign to reach a Walmart associate inside the store.
- Are there any different driver requirements for Walmart Gigs?
Yes. Because you will be delivering food items, your car will need to be reasonably clean. This means free of smoke, pet hair and dander, etc. If a Walmart associate doesn’t think your car meets these standards, they may refuse to load the groceries into your car.
